The Research Group in Information Systems (GReSI) of HEC Montréal was established in 1986. The creation of GReSI grew out of a need to understand the increasingly important role of information and information technology in organizations.
The basic philosophy underlying the group’s activities – whether the activities related to research, training, or industry relationships – is that information technology itself does not guarantee an organization’s economic success. Information technologies (IT), however, are a major element that can support organization or industry strategy when they are accompanied by sound management techniques which include thorough needs analysis, planned implementation, and follow up to continually assess their impact.
